Our Community and History

During the 1990s, Gwinnett County experienced a significant boom in development, leading to increased job and business opportunities. This growth catalyzed the expansion of the Muslim community in the region, highlighting the need for a new place of worship to serve this burgeoning population.

The genesis of GIC dates back to December 2004, when approximately 15 community members gathered in the Comfort Inn Banquet Hall to initiate a fundraising campaign for a new Musallah.

GIC was officially established as a non-profit organization in the state of Georgia in January 2005. By October of the same year, GIC had signed its first lease for a modest suite in a strip mall in Suwanee, owned by Peachtree Properties. The community's rapid growth necessitated the leasing of two additional suites within just four years, underscoring the essential role of the GIC in accommodating the needs of its expanding congregation.
